I have to thank my friend Sarah for turning me onto the best exercise video I have ever done (and I was a Tae Bo addict in college).
I started exercising as soon as I could after delivering Augie. It was slow at first, just walking, and then built up to jogging and free weights. When our new gym opened in November I moved to the treadmill and kettle bell. Though I was losing the baby weight my body wasn’t responding exactly as I had hoped. My friend Sarah had recommended The Tracy Anderson Method Presents Post-Pregnancy Method DVD and let me borrow her copy to give it a try.
OUCH! No seriously…ouch! This woman is tough and yet, I didn’t hate her once during the entire DVD. I have been doing it for a few weeks now and I still can’t complete the entire DVD without screaming at some point. It’s a good scream though… it reminds me that my middle section will one day not look like it is trying to escape the top of my pants.
Here is a little information on the DVD. Tracy Anderson was a trained dancer who decided she would create her own exercise method to help any body type obtain that ideal dancer shape. She has had a child herself and gained 60 lbs. in the process (she is only 5 feet tall and her body is amazing). The Post-Pregnancy Method DVD is not cardio, but rather an intense focus on your abs and core with some leg and arm exercises to tone the entire body. The total workout takes a little more than an hour and you will feel the burn the entire time. Oh… and Gwyneth Paltrow is a huge fan (as noted in the special Gwyneth Paltrow testimonial section of the DVD)… not sure why she is an expert on good workout DVDs.
So now you know. I am definitely feeling and seeing a difference. I wouldn’t say I am bathing suit ready, but I have no doubt that if I really stick with Tracy she can get me there.
The truth is, I would be open to trying just about anything to feel like I was getting back in shape, but with this DVD I don’t have to… because this actually works.
